A bi-monthly publication, Diesel magazine was established in 2001 by publishing company The Intermedia Group with highly experienced truck journalist Steve Brooks as its founding editor and the intrepid Trevor Herkess as advertising manager.
At the time, many sceptics said it wouldn’t last in an already crowded marketplace, but time and toil soon proved them wrong as Diesel quickly rose to prominence amongst its peers under the expert guidance of Brooks.
The growing pains persisted in subsequent years, prompting the publisher in 2004 to engage a young man by the name of Paul Matthei as assistant editor. Following the completion of a four year cadetship, Matthei was elevated to the role of editor while Brooks was promoted to the position of managing editor, an arrangement that continues to this day.
Then in late 2011 it was decided to take things to the next level with the introduction of dieselnews.com.au, a website dedicated to keeping the trucking industry abreast of the latest relevant news as it breaks, in addition to providing an electronic interface for the viewing of Diesel magazine content.
As with the magazine, all material in dieselnews.com.au is sourced by the familiar and experienced team of Paul Matthei and Steve Brooks with advertising managed by Trevor Herkess.
While some might question whether the trucking industry needs another website just as there were those who questioned the need for Diesel magazine more than a decade ago, we believe dieselnews.com.au will become a valuable resource to the industry simply because it will do the job better.
Trust you enjoy the read,
Paul Matthei
