The company operates more than 130 vehicles including 75 prime movers, 53 trailers and 10 rigid trucks. The new tyre policy replaces a previous agreement with another major tyre manufacturer and national service provider.
As well as transporting large consignments to and from the continent, Eurovision Logistics manages contract distribution for the convenience store industry and is also a member of the Fortec Pallet Network offering customers overnight pallet distribution throughout the UK.
The trial began in September 2011 when the company’s new tyre service provider, ATS Euromaster, fitted one prime mover and trailer in the fleet with Pirelli tyres to see how proactive servicing could reduce tyre wear on that unit compared with the rest of the fleet.
Favourable results saw the company change its tyre preference completely to Pirelli, with a mixture of FR01 and FH88 Energy tyres fitted on steer axles, TR01 and TH88 Energy on drive axles and ST01 tyres on the trailers.
