Bridgestone Australia is set to launch four new sizes in its Ecopia range, completing its low rolling resistance drive and trailer line-up. The new sizes mean Ecopia tyres will now available to almost 95 per cent of the trailer market and approximately 90 per ent of the drive market.
The new sizes to be on offer include the 275/70R22.5 M749 Drive, 265/70R19.5, 275/70R22.5 and 255/70R22.5 R109 Trailer tyres.
“Fleets are continuing to make the switch to Bridgestone Ecopia and it’s no surprise why,” said Andrew Moffatt, Bridgestone Managing Director. “Our in-fleet testing across Australia means Ecopia has well and truly been put to the test since its launch in 2013. The key factor here is that we are consistently seeing fuel savings of up to six per cent.”
Lindsay Transport has worked with Bridgestone to run its entire fleet on Ecopia tyres, estimated to reduce the company’s CO2 emissions by almost 6,000 tonnes annually, equivalent to the company taking 18 of their B-Doubles off the road every year.
Lindsay Transport initially trialled the Bridgestone Ecopia tyres on several trucks before fitting them to the entire 260-strong fleet.
“The move to run our entire fleet on Bridgestone Ecopia tyres, and what it will deliver in terms of real environmental benefits, is incredibly exciting,” said Nick Lindsay, Lindsay Transport’s Fleet Quality and Efficiency Manager. “We are always striving to provide a premium service. In today’s competitive market, this environmental commitment is an important benefit we can offer our customers – many of whom are looking to strengthen their own green credentials.
“Beyond that, we believe we have a responsibility to give something back to the community and this is a meaningful way for us to do that. When we started to see the results coming through, we knew it was something we had to do so we decided to go ahead and apply them to the whole fleet.
“In some ways it was a bit of a gamble but we have had a long and successful partnership with Bridgestone so we knew it was the right move to make. They proved to us that the environmental benefit was there and also that there was a positive saving to be made by switching to Ecopia.”
