Last minute court action by NatRoad has stopped the introduction of the Contractor Driver Minimum Payments RSRO. Late on Friday the Federal Court granted a stay of the Contractor Driver Order, which was due to come into force on Monday, following the announcement of the decision of the RSRT not to agree to the delay all of the stakeholders had been calling for.
The application to the Federal Court was made by NatRoad with the support of the Australian Trucking Association. The urgent application was put before the Federal Court in Brisbane, which formally granted a stay of the Contractor Driver Order, due to commence operation on Monday April 4.
“This means that the Contractor Driver Minimum Payments RSRO that was to apply to tens of thousands of contractor drivers across Australia from 4 April, will not commence until further order of the Court,” said a statement put out by NatRoad on Friday evening.
