Last weekend the Livestock and Bulk Carriers Association of NSW named the Young Driver of the Year. 29 year old, Raymond ‘Reggie’ Sutton, came away with the prize of a $5,000 trip to the US at the LBCA Conference in Jindabyne.
Three contenders were presented on the first morning of the LBCA event, before the overall winner was announced at that evening’s dinner event. The two runners up were, Adam Manwaring, a livestock owner driver from Wagga Wagga, and Beau Schubert, a driver for, livestock operator, Richardson Brothers from Maitland.
Winner Reggie is an owner driver with a Kenworth T909 who tows livestock trailers for the Dawson operation from Wagga Wagga. In the citation, nominating him for the award, Reggie was described as ‘Honest, reliable and committed’.
This is the first presentation of the Young Driver prize and it is intended to encourage and develop young talent in the livestock and bulk trucking industry. The panel of judges included, recent past President of the LBCA, Barney Hayes, RMS Compliance Director, Peter Wells and Ron Finemore Transport’s Asset Manager, Paul Pulver.
